Last Stand, day 1: Ideas

I've made several small game projects in the past, just little micro games that have never really gone further than my own immediate environment. GameDev.tv launched there 2024 Game Jame, that with a submission includes a free course. I only sort of know what I'm doing when it comes to making games, it's really a lot of stuff I've figured out on my own, there's no real guidance or prior learning from any other sources. Not for lack of will, just for lack of doing. This seems like a great opportunity to make a micro-project based on a predetermined set of parameters, with an actual reward.

The theme is Last Stand. Adherence to the theme is optional, but I think its good to use the theme for inspiration instead of going off in some entirely random direction. So, what am I going to make? I struggled with this part for a couple days. Luckily, this game jam is over a decent length of time, but this still cut into it a significant amount.

Of course, penultimate battles like at the end of Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter come to mind... but that feels to on the nose. What about something related to night stands? I don't want it tied to anything that could be perceived as risqué, so I want to be careful with what I decide... but I think this direction might be fruitful.

Perhaps you're a furniture salesman, and you have one nightstand from the previous season you have to get rid of. Perhaps its a cursed nightstand and you have to get rid of it, but the curse also results in no one liking it, making it hard to sell? What if the 'last stand' was you literally doing combat against the final nightstand?

I like the idea of you having to battle a literal 'last nightstand'.
I'm going to continue working in this direction.
